Entering my 7th season covering high school football in NWGA.

There is a lot of excitement in Blue Ridge surrounding this 2024 squad, and rightfully so. They bring back a ton of production on both sides of the ball that includes some of the Top players in the Region at their positions. The Rebels are also playing inspired this year for their falling teammate.

Here is a look at their 2024 Schedule with Calpreps Predictions followed by a little of my own commentary.

August 16th at Gilmer County

A great game to open the 2024 season vs longtime rivals in Elijay. Both teams enter ’24 with high expectations and bring back tons of talent on both sides of the ball. Fannin shocked Gilmer 38-14 last season and I’m sure the Bobcats will be looking for revenge. Calpreps: Coin Flip

August 23rd Home vs Rabun County

A chance for the Rebels to make a statement early. The Tigers may not be the powerhouse that we are used to recently, but they still enter 2024 ranked #13 in A D1. If the Rebels can pull these next three games off, an undefeated season is not out of the question. Calpreps: Rabun Co by 2

August 30th at Union County

Union County put a surprise thumping on the Rebels last year in Blue Ridge (50-12). Fannin Co hits the road in late August looking to return the favor. Calpreps: Union Co by 3

Sept 6th – OFF Rebels recharge after a tough opening month and get ready for a run at the Region Title.

Sept 13th at Coosa

The Rebels open up Region play on the road in Rome to face the Coosa Eagles. Fannin have to be careful not to overlook the Eagles. Calpreps: Fannin by 32

Sept 20th at Dade County

The computer says this is an absolute coin flip at Magic Morgan and a potential Region Title deciding game. Calpreps: Coin Flip

Sept 27th Home vs Gordon Central

The Rebels are back at home for the 1st time in a month to face what should be a much improved Gordon Central Warrior team. Calpreps: Fannin by 35

October 4th Home vs Chattooga

The Indians from Chattooga are another team that struggled some in ’23 but look much improved in ’24. Calpreps: Fannin by 35

Oct 7th – OFF The Rebels could potentially be sitting at 4-0 in the Region with 3 big games to play for the crown.

October 18th Home v Armuchee

The final game in one month homestand for the Rebels. They get to square off with the Blue Indians in this one who should have a young hungry team in ’24. Calpreps: Fannin by 32

October 25th at Christian Heritage

If the Rebels are going to win the Region they will have to get it done these final 2 weeks of the season. They travel to Dalton and try slow the Lions and their 6’4 220 QB. Calpreps: Fannin by 7

November 1 Home vs Gordon Lee

I don’t think anyone that follows these teams closely would be shocked if this game was for the Region Title on the final week of the regular season. The computer has Fannin a big favorite now but my guess is that will change before November. Calpreps: Fannin by 21

Final Word

Calpreps has Fannin with a guaranteed 6 wins with two coin flip contest. They have them finishing at best 8-2 with losses to Rabun and Union Co.

Some tough contests in there but I would not be shocked if the Rebels entered the playoffs at 10-0 with Region 7A’s autobid.
