Team #10: Central Lions
The Lions finished 12-1 last season under 1st year and the ’23 NwGaFootball COY Umbrah Brown. Central accomplished a few things that Lion fans had not seen in a while. They captured their 1st Region Title since 2014, the most wins in a season (12) since the 1987 State Championship Team and advanced past the 2nd round of the playoffs for the 1st time since 2013.
The Lions were young in ’23 and have their expectations set high in ’24. Here are 3 names to know this Fall. (As even moderate football fans you should already know rising Junior RB Jonaz Walton who is arguably the top returning RB we cover and has offers from everywhere, so we will give you 3 more names to know.)

’27 QB JR Harris
The highly touted QB through the middle school ranks did nothing to disappoint as he made the jump to varsity QB1. Completed 70% of his passes and had close to 2400 total yards and 27 TDs. North Alabama jumped in early and offered the 4.0 student this week, many more to come.
’25 WR Marshun Horton
The 6’4 175 WR was a kid I saw last year at the Shorter Camp and knew then his stock would rise. Great target for Harris with good hands and speed. Recently clocked at 21.0 mph and set a PR in the 300m hurdles with a 42.18 mark. Breakout Senior year on tap.
’25 DB Zyleigh Person
Another kid with speed. Was clocked at 20.1 mph this week. Outstanding coverage DB that doesn’t mind coming up and laying a hat on a RB. Deadly punt returner that bounces off defenders like a pinball with the speed to take it to the house.
