Team #23: Gordon Lee Trojans

Gordon Lee ended 2023 (6-5) and made the playoffs in AAA. This season the Trojans will be back in Class A with schools more comparable to their size. Coach Josh Groce enters his 6th season at the helm and has guided Gordon Lee to the playoffs 3 of the last 4 years, the first time this has been accomplished since 2008.

3 Names to Know in ’24

’26 DB/RB Peyton Groce: 1st Team All Region selection at DB in ’23. Athletic guy that I got to see in person at a PrepRedzone camp in January. Tested top 10% in all the metric categories, agile, strong and fast. Was 2nd in rushing on the team last Fall with 519 yards on just 86 carries. Tied for the team lead in TT with 67 and added 2 INTs.

’26 LB Layne Vaughn: The 5’10 LB was selected 1st Team All Region after tying for the team lead in total tackles with 67. Had 6 TFL and sack. Only carried the ball on offense 37 times last season but 28 of those carries came vs Ridgeland where he scored a couple of touchdowns.

’27 ATH Brayden Stoker: The 6’3 200 ATH entered his freshman season with a lot of hype and he didn’t disappoint. The multisport student/athlete rushed for 733 yards with 11 TDs and added 337 receiving yards on 28 catches. Was the only freshman named 1st Team All Region in 6AAA.
