3 Names to Know in ’24: Heard County Braves

Over the next few weeks we will highlight 3 players from each of the 54 teams we follow at NwGaFootball.

Team # 26: Heard Co Braves

Last years record may not look great on paper, (4-7), but the Braves qualified for the playoffs for the 19th straight season. Head Coach Shane Lasseter returns for his 4th season and has a good nucleus of returning players in ’24. They move to a tough Region this Fall but they will no doubt be up to the challenge as they seek their 20th straight playoff appearance.

3 Names to Know in ’24:

A lot of talented guys on this squad but I narrowed it down to 3, with a bonus 4th throw in.

’26 RB/LB: Antonio “TJ” Heath

2023 Region Iron Man award winner returns for his Junior season. The 5’7 195 RB was the leading rusher for the Braves last season, rushing for 527 yards on 74 carries with 6 TDs. Was named HM All State on the defensive side of the ball where he led the team with 109TT with 13 TFL. Student athlete with a 4.0 GPA.

’26 WR/DB Andrew Tinker

The 5’10 170 Tinker not only has the the natural athletic ability to be a good football player but has a high on the field IQ that comes from being raised in a coaching family. Good coverage DB that has nose for the football. Picked up an offer from Bowling Green earlier this Spring.

’27 WR/CB Brody Buc Cofield

Cofield is a true athlete. Contributed in all 3 major sports as a freshman. Was the team leader in TD receptions in ’23 with 7 and will be counted on a lot more in ’24 with the Braves losing over half of their receiving production to graduation.

Bonus: ’27 QB Ethan Tisdale: one of the top starting freshman QBs in our coverage area last Fall throwing for over 1200 yards.
