Over the next few weeks we will highlight 3 players from each of the 54 teams we follow at NwGaFootball.
We have made it to the halfway point!
Team #27: Hiram Hornets
The Hornets had arguably one of their best seasons in history in 2023. They finished at 9-3 and advanced to the 2nd Rd of the playoffs. It was their 1st winning season since 2014, highest scoring offense ever, most wins since 2009 and only the 4th time they have advanced to the 2nd round of the playoffs. Head coach Pete Fominaya enters his 7th season at the helm and looks to build on Hiram’s success in ’23.
3 Names to Know in ’24:
’25 RB Kaden Hamilton: Hamilton led the team in in rushing last season with 1143 yards and 18 TDs, averaging almost 8.5 yards per carry. He had a two game stretch in Sept vs Drew and Dalton where he carried the 23 times for 278 yards with 6 TDs. Hamilton along with fellow rising Senior Da’Shaun Williams will get Hiram a tough rushing offense to stop in 2024.
’25 LB Jason Gyebi: The 5’10 210 multisport rising Senior has been a starter since his freshman year. Was named 1st Team All Region last season in one of the toughest AAAAA Regions in the State. Led the Hornets last season with 108 TT, 80 of those solo, with 7 TFLs and a sack. Wrestles in the off season and sports a 3.58 GPA.
’25 LB Josiah Pope: Pope has the kind of size the recruiters at the next level like, 6’3 211. A two year starter at LB that had 65 TT with 4 sacks last year for the Hornets. He has already popped on too several college radars and with a big senior season he could be the diamond in the rough next signing period.
