Entering my 7th season covering high school football in NWGA.

Over the next few weeks we will highlight 3 players from each of our 53 teams we cover here at NwGaFootball.

Team #3: Bowdon Red Devils

The Back to Back State Champs and 2x in a row NwGaFootball Team of The Year looks to do it again in 2024. For you old heads out there, the famous words of Jerry Reid in Smokey and the Bandit, “We are going to do what they say can’t be done”.

Coach Fendley is entering his 7th year with the Red Devils and has gone 53-22 with 4 straight Region Titles and 2 State Championships. They look to accomplish something that has never been done in Bowdon history this Fall, 4 straight 10+ win season.

A lot of really good high school players on the Bowdon team so it was hard to narrow down just 3, but here goes.

3 Players to Watch:

Kaiden Prothro

6’6 200 WR/OLB

2026

Hard to believe this kid is only going to be a Junior, absolute stud on the football field. The multisport student/athlete (football, baseball, basketball) has offers from just about everyone to play at the next level. Has really changed his body since his freshman season in that Red Devil strength and conditioning program. Great hands, speed, football IQ. Big time player to watch in 2024.

Dylan McGrinn

5’10 180 MLB/RB

2025

The returning DPOY in Region 7. McGrinn was in on 151 TT last season with 6 TFL, 1 Int and 3 fumble recoveries. Has a nose for the football and always seems to be in the right spot to make the play. Tough kid and hard worker off the field. Has been working hard in the weight room this season and will be a monster this Fall.

JaMichael Jones

DB

2025

Under the Radar kid that quietly goes about getting it done. The 1st Team All Region DB is a former reigning Iron Red Devil Champion and holds the school record in the broad jump. Jones has played big roles in the 2 State Title runs for the Red Devils and looks to help them 3 Peat this Fall.

Bonus: Keep an eye on RB Nathan Bhony this Fall. Has the potential to be the breakout player of the year in our coverage area.
