Entering my 7th season covering high school football in NWGA.

Over the next several weeks we will highlight 3 players from each of the 54 schools we follow at NwGaFootball.

Team #13: Coahulla Creek Colts

Head Coach Drew Carter enters his 2nd season at the helm for the Colts after going 5-5 in ’23. Coahulla Creek was extremely competitive once again, following their first winning season in school history in 2022. Only 11 points separated them from going 8-2 last season, and they were in the playoff hunt up until the final week. The ’23 team had the best defense, based on points allowed in a season, in program history.

3 Names to Know in ’24:

’27 DB/WR/RB Tyler Douglas

Douglas made All-Region HM and 2nd Team All Area as a freshman (the only freshman to do so). Was 2nd on the team in tackles from his safety position with 68, and had 2 INTs, a FF, and two fumble recoveries. He also saw time on the offensive side at WR too with 7 catches. He will see his offensive role expand in ’24.

’26 LT/DE Chevy Joyce

Joyce has anchored the offensive live since arriving on campus, starting every game on the OL since his freshman year (21 games), and has had All-Region and All-Area Honors. He was voted team captain as only a sophomore by the Coahulla Creek coaching staff. He was a significant contributor on defense too, leading the team in sacks last year. Joyce was invited to a Kirby Smart Prospect Camp at UGA prior to his sophomore season as well.

’26 DT/TE Jackson Lowery

Lowery started all 10 games at nose tackle for the Colts as a sophomore, earning All-Region HM. In Coahulla Creek’s 3-4 defense, he absorbed most of the double team blocks along the defensive line, and still managed to account for 34 tackles, 4 TFLs, and 2 sacks. Lowery also had a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. He saw time offensively at tight end on goal line formations, and will be utilized more in that capacity in the 2024 season.
