We put our staff to the test this week and asked them to predict the finishing order in 7-A Div1 for the 2025. Granted the predictions are based on who is slated to return for each team and a lot can change between now and the Fall.
A quick synapsis of each teams returning players with a fan poll at the end. Let us know who you think is the “Way Early Pre Spring Favorite in Region 7-A Div1.
- Gordon Lee Trojans:
- The Trojans bring back 100% of their passing yards (Dustin Day) 99.5% of their rushing yards with Seniors Peyton Groce (1168) and Layne Vaughn (874) being the top 2 returners in the backfield. 99.7% of their receiving yards return with Senior Landon Norton (440) and Junior Brayden Stoker (372) leading the way. On defense they return 2 of their top 3 tacklers in Groce and Vaughn. Biggest Question ?: The Trojans will be replacing a few guys up front.
-
- Fannin County Rebels:
- On paper it looks like a rebuilding year in Blue Ridge, losing QB Lawson Sullivan and RB Carson Callihan. The duo accounted for over 4000 total yards last season for the Rebels. They should be solid on defense with Seniors Braxton Cheatham and CJ Reece leading the way but they will still have to fill some spot lost to graduation. Biggest Question Mark: New offensive leaders.
-
- Christian Heritage Lions:
- The Lions lose all their rushing and passing production from 2024 with QB Carter Triplett accounting for 100% of the passing and 50% of the teams totals last Fall. They lose 70% of their receiving core with Junior Bronx Stallion (303) being the top returner. The Lions will be having to replace most of their defensive starter as well with Junior Cooper Middleton (60 TT) as the top returner. Biggest Question Mark: QB position. I hear they have a outstanding rising Freshman.
-
- Coosa Eagles:
- Kind of a wash in sports 4-6 but the nod here goes to the Eagles with an experienced QB returning. Rising Junior Charlie Cannon passed for close to 1500 yards last season with 8 TDs. Biggest Question Mark: Coosa will be looking for a new RB1 to help Cannon in the backfield.
-
- Chattooga Indians:
- No doubt losing the States leading rusher Zayden Cook will hurt. The Indians have 2 of the biggest and best OL/DL in the Region with Kaden Fife (6’5 295) and Koi Dodd (6’6 255) and will rely on the big men up front to help the new offense. Biggest Question Mark: New faces in the backfield this year
-
- Dade County Wolverines:
- If Dade is going to get back to the playoffs for a 5th straight season they will need some new faces to step up. Senior H Garmany split time at QB last season and returns after passing for 562 yards but he will have new faces to handoff and throw to in 2025. Biggest Question Mark: Inexperience on both sides of the ball.
-
- Gordon Central Warriors:
- The biggest loss in the offseason for the Warriors was Head Coach Lenny Gregory making the move to Commerce. He had made huge strides and the next HC to step in will have a solid base to work with. Biggest Question Mark: Head Coach
-
- Armuchee Indians:
- Not only did the the Indians lose their Head Coach Eric Belew to Warren Co (TN) in the offseason but also graduated a huge Senior class. Biggest Question Mark: Young
